My friend is an artist based in the Cambridge area adn asked me to design her a logo for invoices etc. with a view to expand further in the future.
She had wanted the logo to reflect her stlye of art and ethos. Quoted from her website: www.susieolczak.co.uk

“My work and research explores space, light, perspective and form. It is influenced by minimalism, geometry, light, balance and architecture however predominately the focus is on how the viewer experiences space. My work alters, highlights or creates space for the viewer to interact with. So that the viewer questions how they negotiate space and how architecture intrudes on their physical space. My work investigates how impact can be created and aims to become a physical and psychological experience for the viewer. Illusions are exploited in order to encourage the viewer to rethink the way they perceive. To enable the audience to be able to form a relationship to the work, scale becomes important. Using scale that is recognisable to the viewer, evoking architecture but to a smaller scale, so the space becomes more intimate or intrusive.”

My concept is ‘The Aubin Collection’ where Aubin & Wills collaborate with up and coming designers to create a limited edition clothing or homewares collection. I will be the up and coming designer. Not only will I need to collection of t-shirts and homewares. I’ll also need to create a fully integrated marketing campaign. This will include direct mail, PR, web, advertising, window displays and events / promo launch. My idea should show how you would promote the collection using various channels to reach our target audience.

All t-shirt and babygrows were sewn and screen-printed by my own hands.
The material pattern was designed by me but was printed at CAT at glasgow school of art.

Just got my hands on an iphone4 and the app instagram has caught my attention from the start. LOVE IT!!

Haven’t posted in a while due to the madness of final project and working freelance.
Tonight, I have taken a night off from it (will post some images after this) and tried my hand at foil blocking.
I’d wanted to create a one off print for a friend’s birthday and get it printed properly. The printers being lovely people suggested that buying some foil and doing it would be cheaper so i did with great success.
Here are the results. Have printer onto tracing paper then passed it through a laminated to transfer the foil.
A mixture of names, branding for my final project and my own logo.

Unfortunately, not the chosen concept but I like it all the same. The concept is based around the idea that new graduates have to have many strings to their bows and we have many tricks up our sleeves. This lead me to the tagline ‘We have become Multi-faceted’. The concept grew from there, I wish to animate the diamond inspired shape in Flash. Stills taken throughout the animation would create the different shapes for the courses involved as we have different skills to offer.

The Background
Aubin & Wills is a ‘spin-off’ brand, launched by Jack Wills in September 2008. The label is aimed at a maturer range of customers than Jack Wills caters for. Jack Wills was founded in 1999 by Peter Williams and Robert Shaw, the former who named the company after his grandfather, Jack Williams. The original store was in Salcombe, Devon located at 22 Fore Street. This original address is often written into the Jack Wills handbook, clothing labels and in-store signs.
The Aubin Gallery & Cinema
On the 20th May 2010, The Aubin Gallery was launched, situated on the top floor of the Shoreditch branch, is a new collaborative effort between Aubin & Wills and British artist and curator Stuart Semple. The program will feature various guest curators, new art talent and in-house art projects to create a “unique inter-disciplinary platform”. The 7,500 sq. ft. concept space also includes The Aubin Cinema which is run in collaboration with the members club Shoreditch House to contribute a new social hot spot in East London’s Redchurch Street.

Target Audience
The label is aimed at a maturer range of customers than Jack Wills caters for, namely ages 25–35, who have recently graduated from higher or tertiary education and are in full-time employment. Our target market is 25-35 year old young successful individuals looking for individual effortlessly cool, exclusive clothing.

We were each given a typeface and design a poster with it and have 20-50 words of copy included. I’ve taken inspiration from Nirvana’s Nevermind album cover as the logotype for Nirvana is Bodoni.

My lovely cousin gave me this recipe and some of her home-made truffles, hers were absolutely scrumptious so made me some myself. Really simple and easy to make.

500g of Oreo cookies
250g Cream Cheese
2 large Bars of Chocolate

In a blender, crush cookies then add cream cheese and blend till cream cheese is well mixed.
Roll into small balls and put in fridge for 45 mins.
Melt chocolate and roll balls to coat
Back in fridge to let the chocolate set.

Ingredients
For the cake mixture
125g/4½oz butter
225g/8oz soft dark brown sugar
2 free-range eggs
150ml/5½fl oz soured cream
175g/6oz plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
50g/1¾oz cocoa powder
1 orange, zest only

For the frosting
200g/7oz orange dark chocolate, melted
2 heaped tbsp cocoa powder
150ml/5½fl oz double cream
berries and double cream, to serve

Preparation method
Pre-heat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4. Grease and line two 20cm/8in sandwich tins.
Beat the butter and sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, and then the soured cream until well combined. Sift in the flour, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and cocoa powder. Fold in the orange zest.
Divide the mixture between the two 20cm/8in sandwich cake tins and then bake for 30-35mins. (Test by inserting a skewer through the centre of the cake. If it comes out clean, the cake is ready. Leave to cool.)
For the frosting, add a little water to the cocoa until it forms a paste. Stir the mixture into the melted chocolate and beat in the cream until well combined.
Spread the frosting over one cake and top with the other cake. Transfer the cake to a serving plate and ice the cake all over using a pallette knife.
